Does RS-202 need official frequency license registration with the State Communications authorities?
The official state regulations in Russia allow operation of radio security systems for real estate, which use 433.92MHz +/-2% broad band with 10mWt transmitters. This means that with the RF-202 equipment and software you do not need to apply for a dedicated frequency or wait for additional state permits or registration of your equipment with any government officials.
RS-202 does not require bothersome “licensing and permits” procedures common for alternative products during installation or operation of the system. Find out more about current legislation (in Russian)
Does RS-202 require additional retransmission devices?
No, RS-202 does not require additional transmitters. Radio signal is directly broadcast from end on-site detection devices to the Base Control Panel in the distance range covering a large city.
What radio frequency does RS-202 work in?
RS-202 system utilizes noise-free super narrowband radio channel with the latest technologies of hopping frequency and multi-band signal. Find out more about the radio technology used in RS-202 system (in Russian)
How well is RS-202 protected from external noise or tampering?
RADIO channel utilized in RS-202 was initially developed to provide stable transmission in the high-noise environment in the open broadband range. RS-202 deployment scheme prevents the system from any serious jamming attack with the Base Station receiver resistant to noises of over 50 Wt in the active frequency band. RS-202 security has been thoroughly tested for operation at 433 МHz frequency: you can check the results
How does RS-202 achieve its record signal range of 70 km using 10mWt transmission devices?
The ALTONIKA engineering team worked hard on designing the best product solution for a safe and reliable radio security system for wireless surveillance of distant sites in a large modern city. The principle considerations were that purchasing, installation and operation of this security system would not burden the user with any
· need for additional retransmission or signal amplification devices,
· extra cost or hassle of purchasing or licensing the radio frequency.
The 400-450 MHz frequency range was selected as the one best suited for the task at hand as it showed the desired efficacy in the urban environment and allowed for smaller antennae equipment at the same time providing the maximum transmission range. The choice of the 400-450 MHz frequency dramatically reduced equipment cost and maintenance expenses, while minimizing the risk of outside jamming or hostile tampering.
The ALTONIKA team has also developed a unique high capacity low transmission speed radio protocol for RS-202 communications, which uses up to 1024 radio frequency channels simultaneously. Read more about the radio channel used in REEF String RS-202 (in Russian) .
After thorough testing and further technical upgrades the distance range was increased to 70 km (which in typical flat terrain city conditions requires the Base Station to be mounted at about the height of a 20-storey building) and the system’s resistance to noise exceeded comparable solutions using dedicated radio channels with 15MWt transmitters. You may learn more about RS-202 performance from test reports and our customers’ feedback.
How do I install the system for the desired coverage on uneven terrain in a densely built city conditions?
Individual installation schemes may vary from city to city depending on the terrain and the requirements of the user. If you feel unsure we recommend that you should contact your regional authorized Dealer, who should be able to answer pending questions or provide a turn-key installation service for your RS-202 security system.
You may consult with the list of the BUG Balt authorized regional dealers
How often does the system run signal transmission checks?
The system runs one test signal transmission per minute from installed security devices to the Central Control Panel. The Base Stations may be programmed to issue an alarm notification when not hearing from an on-site transmitter within a set time period (4 to 20 minutes).
What is the system’s standard capacity?
The Base Station is limited by the number of physical transmitters operating simultaneously in the system and the virtual capacity of the transmitters or the quantity of locations which may be linked to the Control Panel by one transmitter. One RS-202 Base Station can accommodate up to 600 transmitters, however, this number can be extended as per requirement. A transmitter’s virtual capacity holds up to 63 Chapters with 99 zones or users in each Chapter.
This means that one transmitter can link 63 individual apartments in a modern city condominium with 99 zones and users in each of them with the Central Control Panel. Each apartment will be treated as a separate surveillance location with independent arming and disarming mode and schedule. In total, the maximum capacity of one RS-202 Base Station equals 600*63=37800 individual locations.
Is the system compatible with equipment from other manufacturers?
Yes, since RS-202 system supports ContactID protocol. The on-site equipment included in RS-202 features a device called Control Panel Communicator, which allows to link the Central Control Panel with any on-site security devices or systems which support ContactID protocol, e.g., Ademco (Vista Panels), DSC (PC Panels), Bolid (С-2000 Series), Caddx, SurGard and many others.
Which antennae models should I use with the RS-202 system?
In the close range or in the steady transmission zone the system will operate perfectly with the Quarter Wave Antennae included with the Standard Transmitters Package and are mounted directly onto the Transmitters’ contact points. In this “attached mode” the Transmitters should be installed at heights, which exceed the surrounding screening obstacles, such as cars, crowds of people, freights, etc.
With longer ranges or in unstable transmission zones the system may be extended with the use of external targeted antennae with 3 dB (AN2-433), 6 dB (AN-433) and 11 dB (Lira-433) amplification. If the installation requires some serious protection from outside tampering we recommend tamper-safe antennae model AG-433.
What is included in the Standard RS-202 Package?
The following components are supplied as the Standard RS-202 Package:
1. Base Station Receiver Circle Diagram Antenna with 6 dBd amplification.
2. External Receiver Antenna Amplifier +20 dBd
3. Central Control Panel (Base Station)
4. Control Panel Centralized Surveillance PC Software package
5. Autonomous Reserve Control Panel (for unlikely instances of unexpected main Control Panel software failure)
You will need the following equipment and materials in order to install and operate your RS-202 system:
1. A mast pole (as per terrain conditions, installation method and desired coverage area);
2. Feeder 50 ohm with the MINIMAL FADE-OUT RATE (Nordix cable recommended) – up to 20 m in length;
3. Quality High Frequency Jacks N-type active, 2 pcs;
